PRO:JECT Glow Wild
An immersive lunar sculpture conceived
for Glow Wild's “Out of this world” theme.
A WORLD BEYOND
OUR OWN
Suspended among the trees, LUNA invites visitors to encounter our nearest celestial neighbour in an entirely new light.
Created in response to Glow Wild's Out of this world theme, this four-foot lunar installation combines the physical presence of sculpture with the transformative possibilities of projection mapping.
A proposed removable lunar shell, featuring sculpted craters and terrain, will give the installation a striking three-dimensional presence. Bespoke animated projections will bring this landscape to life, transforming the Moon from a familiar celestial body into an extraordinary world of light, colour and movement.
At its core is an existing sphere, previously exhibited at Cotswold Sculpture Park. This proven installation provides the foundation for LUNA, allowing an entirely new artistic experience to be developed while preserving the adaptability of the original sculptural form.
Concept visual: The image features the existing sphere, digitally enhanced to illustrate the proposed lunar shell. The sculpted lunar surface is currently in development and would be fabricated specifically for LUNA.

PRO:JECT - COTSWOLD SCULPTURE PARK CHRISTMAS TRAIL
LUNA builds upon an existing, fully operational sculptural installation, previously exhibited as part of the Christmas light trail at Cotswold Sculpture Park.
The four-foot acrylic sphere was professionally fabricated with reinforced suspension points and successfully installed in an outdoor woodland environment.
Through projection mapping, the sculpture became a constantly changing visual canvas, displaying animated imagery and seasonal transformations.
The footage presented here documents the original installation in operation, demonstrating its scale, visual impact and suitability as the foundation for LUNA.

FROM CONCEPT
TO REALITY
PRO:JECT LUNA
A LIVING WORLD OF LIGHT
Suspended between the trees, with the open sky as its backdrop, LUNA appears as a remarkable Moon floating above the landscape — a familiar celestial presence brought unexpectedly close to Earth.
During daylight hours, its sculpted lunar surface becomes an artwork in its own right. The detailed craters, contours and textures create a convincing three-dimensional representation of the Moon, offering visitors an intriguing sculptural experience even when the projectors are not operating.
As daylight fades, LUNA undergoes its own transformation. The lunar terrain becomes a canvas for carefully choreographed projections, with shifting light revealing its craters and contours before the surface begins to evolve into something extraordinary.
Lunar eclipses, moving shadows, atmospheric colour and imagined cosmic imagery take visitors on a journey between the scientifically familiar and the wonderfully unexpected.
By day, a striking lunar sculpture. By night, a living world of light and movement.
Designed to be experienced from different viewpoints, LUNA offers a moment of discovery, wonder and reflection within Glow Wild's landscape.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
RICH WELLS | FOUNDER OF PRO:JECT
Rich Wells is a UK-based artist and founder of PRO, an independent creative practice exploring the relationship between physical sculpture, projected light and moving imagery.
His work combines sculptural forms with digital animation and projection mapping, transforming physical objects into immersive visual experiences that evolve, change and take on new identities.
With a particular interest in installations for outdoor environments, festivals and public spaces, Rich brings together traditional sculptural techniques and contemporary digital technology to create engaging and unexpected visual experiences.
His work includes a large-scale Egyptian-inspired sculpture developed for projection mapping, alongside SPHERE, an illuminated sculptural installation previously exhibited at Cotswold Sculpture Park.
LUNA builds upon this experience, combining an existing, successfully exhibited sculpture with a new artistic vision conceived specifically for Glow Wild's Out of this world theme.
PRO:JECT YOUR INTEREST
PRO:JECT LUNA has been conceived specifically for Glow Wild's Out of this world theme, combining an existing, proven sculptural installation with a new creative vision.
I would welcome the opportunity to discuss the proposal further, explore its suitability for Wakehurst and develop the installation in collaboration with the Glow Wild team.
